Promoting Awareness and Appreciation of the Working Class

Home Page

There are a lot of people out there who enjoy working with their hands, and we all benefit from their efforts. Virtually all of our basic needs – food, shelter, transportation, and a wide range of other services – are provided by people in the working trades. Our jobs are meaningful and we take pride in getting things done.

Unfortunately, over the last several decades there has been a steady decline in our status and our wages. Because we are silent, our work often is taken for granted or undervalued by the public. In this age of sound bites and Madison Avenue glitz, just doing our jobs isn't enough. We need to make ourselves heard. We need to share our concerns, our practical wisdom, and the satisfaction that comes from putting in a hard day's work. We need to pass on these values to our children and help the people in our communities understand what we do and why we do it.

This website is a PR campaign for the working class that promotes awareness and appreciation of the important role we play in American society. Whether you are a union worker, self-employed, foreman, journeyman, or apprentice, this website discusses issues that affect all of us. We are the majority, but we are not united. Perhaps it's our fierce sense of independence that gets in the way. Maybe we're just overwhelmed with the daily routines of working, raising families, and paying the bills. This website offers an opportunity to get involved without spending a lot of time or money. You can make a difference by reading about the issues facing the working class, discussing these topics with your friends and co-workers to raise their awareness, sending us your stories of working-class heroes, or displaying one of our slogans on your car or truck (click the “Get Involved” tab for more information).

Thank you for joining us! Please come again, and spread the word.
