Working-Class Heroes
“Every person has the potential to become a hero. It doesn't require wealth, unusual physical strength, or formal education – just a sincere desire to help others during a time of need.”
– Scot Patterson, WCP founder
"Uncle Hank," a working-class hero from Northern Minnesota, shown here in his eighties with the wood he cut and stacked by hand.
The stories presented here celebrate the compassion, resourcefulness, and courage of working-class heroes. These are ordinary people – with their own quirks and character flaws – who, through selfless acts of kindness, have improved the quality of life of those around them. It is important that we share their stories and recognize their gifts to humanity so that others will be inspired to follow their example.
